What is DOI?

In-text citations

DOI (digital object identifier) is a unique web address that is assigned to digital documents, so that they are always easy to find. Unlike regular web addresses (URLs), which can be changed or deleted, the DOI is a permanent address that is always associated with the document. You usually find the DOI on the first page of digital articles, or on the database’s landing page for the article. Both books, articles and datasets can have a DOI.

Example of DOI number: 10.1080/09596410500400165

To find an article using the DOI number, type https://doi.org/ in the URL field, followed by the DOI number. You will then be taken directly to the article.

Example: https://doi.org/10.1080/09596410500400165
